If you haven't noticed, we've fallen a bit behind on posting lately. It's not that we don't have any ideas to blog- we have a lot of pictures to upload and stories to share- we've just been busy. I've been out of town and Scott has been training for his half marathon, so now it's time for me to play catch-up with our blog posts.
These pictures are from a few weeks ago, but I realized we haven't told you about our organic gardening yet this summer. Scott scaled back our garden at home to only include carrots, onions, tomatoes, eggplant, green peppers, zucchini, herbs, and squash. Here's the very first item Scott picked from the garden when it first started producing...a tomato. If you know us well, you know that neither one of us is crazy about tomatoes. How ironic that a tomato is the first thing to produce in our garden. We are both trying to be better about eating tomatoes, and have been using them in a variety of dishes.

The reason why we scaled back our garden at home was because we are participating in a CSA garden- community supported agriculture run by students on campus. Back in the spring we purchased a share of the organic farming and from May-October we can pick up our fresh veggies. We never know what we are going to get from week to week, but that is part of the fun.
Every Monday we go and pick up our produce for the week. It's super fresh as it's picked the morning we pick it up. On the same day we picked one small tomato from our garden, we got zucchini, summer squast, beets, swiss chard, purple beans, and cabbage from our CSA.

In addition to the veggies mentioned above, we've also had spinach, lettuce, carrots, sugar-snap peas, broccoli, turnips, onions, tomotoes, basil, parsley, oregano, asparagus, green beans, yellow beans, kohlrabi, garlic tips, dill, and garlic bulbs. It's been fun to try different veggies and look up how to cook some of the items as well as find different recipes. The only downfall has been the amount of food we've gotten with our share. With Scott on his cholesterol study at various times during the summer, a full share of veggies has been too much for me to eat. But that has just meant more for us to give away!
