Metropolitan?

Evidently, according to the US Census Bureau, we live in a "metro" area and it's growing at a fast speed. Now this metro area business is news to me. I still consider us as living in a small town, hardly a major city, and nowhere near a metro area. Apparently, I am wrong, for we have joined the ranks of the top fastest growing metro areas for July 2007-July 2008. Here's the top of the list from the Census Bureau's recently published report.

1. Raleigh-Cary, NC
2. Austin-Round Rock, TX
3. Kennewisk-Pasco-Richland, WA
4. Palm Coast, FL
5. Gainesville, GA
6. Provo-Orem, UT
7. Charlotte-Gastonia-Concord, NC-SC
8. Idaho Falls, ID
9. Logan, UT-ID
10. St. George, UT
11. Grand Junction, CO

Each of these metro areas experienced 3.1-4.3% population growth for that time period. The interesting thing I found in the survey is that the metro areas ranged in population from 91,000-1,700,000. Seems like a huge leap to even compare an area of less than 100,000 with one over 1 1/2 million. Then again, I'm not the survey reporter- what do I know? I guess I need to get out in our "metro area" more often.
