Ode to the Alamo City

A number of you, our faithful readers, know that I have the great fortune to call the state of Texas my home state. Recently, Carrie and I were at a conference back in that great state, in the city of San Antonio, where many of you may know that the Alamo is found.

The conference itself was on leadership, and ran from Tuesday to Sunday. It was the fourth of a series of conferences that Carrie and I have been a part of, especially geared toward learning about leadership and how it can be used for God's people. Both of us have been so grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it, and have learned and grown much through it.

Of course, you can't go to San Antonio without at least a brief trip to the Riverwalk and all the surrounding restaurants and shops. One evening we were able to head down there with our small group for some really good Mexican food. It was Fiesta Week in San Antonio and we were treated to numerous mariachi bands playing on boats going by on the river.
During our time in San Antonio, we even had a few moments in the busy schedule to see family. Some of my immediate family from West Texas made their way down to see us for a couple of hours of fun, and then, some other relatives met us on Sunday following worship for some good cajun style food. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for the joy, the food, and the fun!

It was great to get a break away from our working lives for this time of fun and learning, but, alas, reality so quickly reasserts itself. Since then, I have been quite busy, as has Carrie (at least she has been much better than me about maintaining the blog!!!!). However, we both have jumped back in with a little more energy from our time of learning, and most importantly, with God's grace toward us.

Alamos, burritos, and fajitas. Oh my!
