Yesterday marked a turning point in our weather. I looked out our patio door in the afternoon and saw these guys rolling into town. Forecasters had said a cold front would be coming and we'd get some rain, but you never know if that's really the case or not.
After seeing the storm clouds, we ran out to the garden to get some veggies. We actually picked our first ripe tomatoes, and have plenty more on their way soon.
We also checked on our baby peppers. Aren't they cute?
We picked tons of cucumbers, and also found one we had missed picking earlier in the week. Can you tell which one was missed? Cucumbers are such odd shapes. You have Larry the cucumber on the left (from VeggieTales), then tall and skinny, than curly, and finally short and stumpy.
With the tomatoes Scott made a fresh salsa that he finished off last night while the rains came down.
It rained off and on for 16 hours yesterday and today. By far this is the most rain we've seen all summer. And with a 30-40 degree temperature drop, it is a nice change from the heat of 90 degree days, but I also know it means fall is here and winter is only around the corner.
We got a brief glimpse of winter today. Looking down our street at the mountains, we noticed a light dusting of snow this afternoon as the clouds cleared.
The weatherman had said to expect mountain snow above 8,000 feet, and sure enough, he was correct. I'm still not sure I'm ready for the transition to fall, but I am enjoying a hot cup of tea today- the first hot drink in a long time.
