In particular, I've become somewhat obsessed with the sunsets. Lately it seems every sunset is different and I am in awe. I find myself gazing out the window into our backyard if we're at home. The colors usually span the entire length of our backyard view and then wrap around.

Purple Mountain Majesty
One of the things I love about our current location is the mountain views and evening sunsets. Having grown up in the plains of the Midwest, I was awestruck when I moved west to a mountain valley. After having lived here for 5 years now, I still find myself staring in amazement at the mountains.
In particular, I've become somewhat obsessed with the sunsets. Lately it seems every sunset is different and I am in awe. I find myself gazing out the window into our backyard if we're at home. The colors usually span the entire length of our backyard view and then wrap around.
If I'm driving, I can hardly keep my eyes on the road because I want to gaze at the mountains and colors from the sunset. The colors in the sky are truly amazing.
It makes me think of the Psalmists words, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of this hands." (Psalm 19:1). All of these shots are straight out of the camera...no alterations. What a wonderful Creator we have!
Really, how can anyone say humans created this? Impossible. Sunsets over the mountains are simply one of the ways I believe God shows his greatness, power, glory, majesty, and splendor (1 Chronicles 29:11).
Perhaps that's why I love nature so...because it gives evidence to me of God's almighty, creating power.
I might have insight into what the Psalmist meant in 98:8, where they write, "Let the rivers clap their hands, let the mountains sing together for joy..." I've seen how the mountains can "sing" for joy.
And I see it every time I gaze over our local mountain range.
In particular, I've become somewhat obsessed with the sunsets. Lately it seems every sunset is different and I am in awe. I find myself gazing out the window into our backyard if we're at home. The colors usually span the entire length of our backyard view and then wrap around.

One of the best things about working in Old Main are the incredible views I get everyday. It indeed puts a smile on my face, and I stop and pause each day to reflect.
I totally agree. I love walking up the hill and gazing at the mountains on the way to work, and then doing the same thing on the way down after work.
