One thing I love about living in the mountains is the summer nights. While the daily temperatures still reach into the mid-90s, the nights cool down into the low 50s. That's a 40 degree difference each day! And while daily temperatures in the 90s may seem hot to some, you have to remember that we also live in a desert climate, so the daytime humidity is usually 10-15%. Not too unbearable.
But back to the nights. They are wonderful. As the sun starts to set behind the mountain range, the eastern mountains are cast in warm hues, while the western mountains hide the sun and create beautiful sunsets. Anytime clouds are in the sky, you can expect a colorful sky display.

Not only are the sunsets spectacular in the evenings, but with the temperatures dropping so much, we are able to open up our windows and cool our entire house down. Last night we only left 4 windows open over night and the house was 67 degrees when we woke!
After we get ready for the day, it's usually time to close all of the windows and head to work. By the time we come home in the early evening, the house has usually warmed 10 degrees, but after a little while, it's cool enough to open windows again. I love nature's FREE air conditioning.
